I’m sure many of you read the story in a british daily last week about the 19 year old who weighs 63 stone and a wall had to be demolished to get her out of the house and to the hospital. For Kenyans who use kilograms (kgs), 63 doesn’t sound that bad. Luckily for me, there was a visual aid in the form of a picture, and I used a converter to arrive at the kilogram equivalent. Yes, 400 Kgs is the weight of that 19 year old girl.
And to give perspective to the story, there was a ranking of the 20 countries with the highest rates of obesity. A quick glance and I was smiling since Kenya (and many other developing countries) is not on that top 20 list. But if we are not careful, we will get there.
